UPON A MIDNIGHT CLEAR

I know that mid-November is too early to be thinking about Christmas, but here I am on a Sunday night, writing this entry by candlelight (cranberry scented from Ikea), listening to “Christmas is Coming” from the Charlie Brown Christmas soundtrack, sipping my eggnog latté, while just having watched a Christmas-themed movie with my brother. I know I am probably a few weeks premature to be indulging in the holiday spirit, but not any earlier than every store or restaurant in the downtown Vancouver core. While walking home tonight, I was completely overcome by a ridiculously joyful feeling upon seeing Christmas lights and festive store displays. I know it seems silly to all the sudden be so happy and thankful for shiny ornaments, yummy gingerbread treats, and the possibility of a snow day off from work, but that infectious elated feeling often overwhelms me in every aspect of my life. I am constantly finding myself reflecting on the wonderful people I have in my life, and how very lucky I am to have so many. Upon this Sunday midnight clear, I am unabashedly excited for Christmas because I get to spend it with so many people I love.
And maybe I am excited for Christmas shopping as well...
The holiday sights that mark my way home...
... Christmas lights in gastown...
... festive attire at Lanvin for H&M...

... items on my wish list from Holt Renfrew...

... a pretty tree at Betsey Johnson...

... holiday treats at Urban Fare... like the Roger's Chocolates advent calendar...

  1. You'd be surprised how many people I know who have already been Christmas shopping. And I'm already planning two holiday parties.

    You're right -- it's nuts! It's barely mid-November!
