IT'S WHERE YOU CAME FROM

The best part about teaching grade one is the times when I take a step back from my teacher-self and act like a six-year-old. How to write, how to read, learning about the different seasons and addition versus subtraction and how to find Canada on a map... valid things to know in life for sure. But when I sit down on the carpet and look at a picture book with my kids, or when I color a picture with them, or when we play pattern blocks together, these are the best times. The most real times. The most honest times. The most fun times.
And really, isn't that what it's all about?

I really did play pattern blocks today with my kids. Can you tell which one I made?

When my kids are done all their work, they get to color this (drawn by yours truly).

Go Canucks!

IF YOU LET ME STEAL YOU AWAY

Numerous Sasquatch photos. Talk about a repeat offender, I had no idea how much I love that red plaid shirt of mine until I saw it in every single picture. Went to get some more shots off a friend's camera only to realize I was wearing that shirt in all of his photos too.
So, let's play a game.
How many times do I wear my red plaid shirt? Do you notice the canucks jersey in the crowd? The canucks flag? A giant eyeball? A bum crack? (It ain't mine don't worry)

SING YOUR HEART OUT

Vest: American Eagle, Bikini Top: Old Navy, Necklace: from a street vendor in Cancun

Had to share one last little thing with you before I leave for Sasquatch... Been hanging onto this necklace for almost eight years now and have never worn it (shameful), although I recently re-strung it with black cord instead of the pink leather it came on. Sometimes you buy things without knowing when you'll wear them, and then all the sudden they have a place in time where you know they'll be perfect. I got a feelin this necklace will make many appearances this weekend..

WHEN IT'S COLD OUTSIDE, I'VE GOT THE MONTH OF MAY

And that's exactly what it was, cold outside and very rainy. May Day = rain or shine, grade fours dance dances around a May Pole, grade threes dance dances in circles, other grades come to watch. It's something you don't ever forget if you're a true New Westminster-ite. When I danced the May Pole way back when, my partner held the rope above my head on Double's Weave so that I couldn't reach it. Never forget it I'll tell you.

WHEN STARS WERE STILL JUST THE HOLES TO HEAVEN

Shirt: Joe Fresh, Ring: Aldo

A crocheted shirt seemed absolutely necessary for an outdoor music festival. Been buying tops lately in XL so that I can wear them as dresses. The Sasquatch countdown is on..

THERE'S KIDS PLAYING GAMES ON THE PAVEMENT DRAWING WAVES ON THE PAVEMENT

Shorts: Old Navy, Shirt: Calvin Klein, Scarf: Club Monaco, Shades: Ray Ban, Ring: Aldo

Yesterday was so gorgeous out that I took my grade ones to the playground twice. Sometimes it is just too hard to get work done indoors when you know the sun is shining.

SO YOU CAN PUT A BLUE RIBBON ON MY BRAIN

So I bought this dress recently, and the front is supposed to look like this...

..But I didn't like it that way, so I wear it reversed, and now it looks like this...

Much more dramatic don't you think?

Dress: Gap, Necklace: Swarovski
